Mayor Gerald Joubert

Michielle BensonGerald Joubert was elected Mayor in June, 2019.  He had been seated in City Council Place 3 after winning the election in June, 2018.  Previously, he served three terms as Mayor of the City of Forest Hill. In 2013, he ran unopposed - the first time in the history of the city that no one ran against the incumbent Mayor in an election. Mr. Joubert was first elected to the City Council in 2003.

Mayor Joubert has volunteered his time and talents to his constituents in Forest Hill since 2003.  As Mayor today, he serves as the Chairman of the Community Development Corporation, a position he held for six years in his previous capacity as Mayor;  in 2017 he served as Chairman for the Mayors Council of Tarrant County and Vice Chairman in 2015 and 2016. He had been a member of that organization’s Economic Development Committee and Nominating Committee from 2013 through 2017 and was as a Legislative Representative from 2014 to 2017.  Mr. Joubert also served as the Assistant Regional Director of Region 11 for the National Black Caucus of Elected Officials (NBC-LEO), and is currently a member of the Texas Association of Black City Council Members (TABCCM).

Mayor Joubert prides himself on bringing honesty, respect, and service to the citizens of Forest Hill. As he has in the past, he will continue to be committed to maintaining an open and transparent city government, bringing quality economic and community development to the community, continually improving the city’s aging infrastructure, and working with city staff to provide superior customer service to our citizens.

“As a Council, we will strive to stay on the forefront of change and build a better future for Forest Hill,” he says.  “Together and when we work cohesively as a team, nothing but positive growth and success will come to our city.” 

Employed as a Security Officer in Fort Worth, Mayor Joubert has lived in Forest Hill since November, 1989. He and his wife Sonya have been married for more than 20 years and have raised three adult sons and a daughter.
