Carlie JonesCarlie Jones was elected to City Council Place 2 in May, 2016. She is serving her first term in office; in January, 2017 she became a Certified Municipal Official. A resident for more than 20 years, Council Member Jones has been a public servant and community activist for more than 17 years.

In December, 2016, Council Member Jones was elected to serve as the Region 11 Director for the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO).  She not only represents the City of Forest Hill for the organization, but all cities in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.     NBC-LEO works to increase African-American participation on the National League of City’s steering and policy committees and to ensure that policy and program recommendations reflect African-American concerns and benefit the member’s communities.  Additionally, in January, 2017, Mrs. Jones was selected to the National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee. This Committee is responsible for developing policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism, court systems and gun control.  Members, from across the country, are committed to discussing and influencing federal policy that has a direct and profound impact on local government operations.

Council Member Jones believes that “Respecting the work others have done will only help to continue to keep Forest Hill in a positive light and moving it in a forward progression for economic growth.”  She adds, “Listening is as important as acting on projects and programs that will benefit our city.  Lowering property taxes, creating public-private partnerships for improving our open spaces and parks, and promoting development - anything is possible for Forest Hill! We just need to work together, plan and be ready for change!”

Mrs. Jones is a Certified Paralegal, obtained her Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, and her Associate Degree from Tarrant County College.  In their 18 years of marriage, Carlie and her husband Jerry have raised five children, all of whom have attended and graduated from the Everman ISD.
